Quoth the Raven, “Nevermore”

Date January 30, 2009

Ten years ago today, at 5 p.m. Eastern, I lost my mom… my best friend. Not a single day passes that I don’t think of her, or appreciate how lucky I was to have had her in my life. What I most remember about her is her Love, Compassion, and Tolerance.

“Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal.” (From a headstone in Ireland)

I am so sorry for this sad anniversary. Take comfort from the fact that her purpose on this earth was fulfilled: she left it a much better place than she found it. She is loved, and she will not be forgotten.

You got that right, baby… she was really something. Thanks.

There are no words that I feel can comfort the hurt from losing the wonderful mother you had. The way you expressed your relationship with her made me envious. I know you give a gift to Hunter of making everyday day a memorable day. I also saw the gift of being a wonderful mother in your sister Estes. Your mother lives on in each of her 3 daughters. I hope you feel some comfort from how your mother inspired you to be such a wonderful person. D

She would have loved reading your quest for balance!

I totally agree… and memories of her inspire me to keep writing.

Thanks for all the nice sentiments that everyone has expressed, both here and in emails. It’s been a neat journey down memory lane.
