Beauty in Unlikely Places: Amsterdam’s Red Light District
February 19, 2009
Today’s post is a short one, because sometimes it can be refreshing to read just a little bit of something. Mostly, I wanted to share this picture of Amsterdam’s Red Light District with you. It was taken by a very dear friend of mine a couple of days ago… which means, she’s all the way over there (and I miss her).
This image reminded her of me, not because of the brothels and tawdry streets (I hope!) but because of the beautiful swans in the canal. It just shows that even in the ugliest and most unlikely places, there is always beauty to be found. We each choose what we want to focus on.
So try to spend today looking for the beauty in every little thing.

Perfect!! This message really hit home. Thanks for making me remember the positive and/or beauty in things that we don’t usually see. D
This is very nice photo… it brings out an emotional connection of beauty…
@ D. I am so glad this hit home for you. Sometimes it’s the little things, huh?
@ Kevin Thanks for noticing, and for commenting. I am so glad you did because I clicked over to your blog and discovered a wonderful resource. You have a ton of great information on there, and I can’t wait to read through more of it.
Thanks,
Lisis
Hi Lisis,
This is beautiful, I have been to Amsterdam and beyond the red light district there is true beauty in this place. Take a boat ride down the canal and you will see exactly what I mean. And the people are so friendly.
