This is one of my favorite songs right now (Acooba’s too). The line that resonates with me most (at this moment) is: I reckon it’s again my turn to win some or learn some.

    Thanks for sharing, Lisis!

Music Therapy…what a great idea!! I like the line “We’re just one big family.” I hope you’re having fun in Costa Rica.

    I LOVE it!!

Thanks, you guys! I’m glad you liked it. Every time I hear this song it makes me feel a little bit better. I am also partial to the “win some or learn some” line because it means that no experience is a loss.

I’m having a lovely time in Costa Rica, and I am also ready to get home and back to homeschooling and visiting the Fellowship of the Blogs again.

    Have a Great Day!!!

    Hi Lisis,

I found you on Sherri’s blog at Serene Journey and thought I’d follow you here to say hello. I love the Maya Angelou quote about crawling into the spaces between the notes… I’m also impressed that you’re doing home schooling. Good on you, keep up the good you’re doing in the world!

Thanks, Daphne! I have seen you “over at Sherri’s” before, so I feel like I already know you. I am so glad you stopped by here. That Maya Angelou quote is one of my favorites… “could curl my back to loneliness.”

    Happy Wednesday!
    =-)

Lovely, Lisis! I was a musician for many years, in a band, yadda yadda…and I love music. I am happy that you tied wellness/balance to music, because I believe it gets ignored as a part of healing all too often. Thanks for introducing the Mraz song; it brought back memories of Hawaii to me and sent endorphins through my bloodstream. Enjoy Costa Rica!

    Hi Lisis,

I discovered this song last year after returning from our dream trip to Hawaii. The video was filmed in the North Shore of Oahu and if you ever have been there, it is paradise!

This song could be my theme song along with “Soak Up The Sun”! I love this song and I dance around to it whether I am at home or in the car. This song rocks! :) Can you tell how much I love this song???? Just kidding! :)

There is nothing like getting lost in a song and I think it is the perfect cure when feeling down or sad or worried.

    Hi Lisis,

Love the song. Thanks for adding the lyrics. I am having a nice little sing along now.
There are lots of great lyrics here. I like ‘There’s no need to complicate, our time is short’.
    What a great post idea.

Thank you to Nadia-HappyLotus for the reference… and thank you Lisis for the post.

Coincidentally, I happened to listen to this this morning…

Perhaps I read too much into things, but it occurred to me that there is a much deeper meaning/message in here…

Perhaps ‘getting back’ is getting back to the source of life beyond time and space, and nothing is going to stop him (or anyone) from getting there.

And opening up your mind is freeing yourself of all of your personal cluttered thoughts as the only path there.

Life is the music that we’re to listen to in the moment to allow us there and when we’re there we are all One (Big Family), and when you get there all you feel is love, hence you know you’re there.

The ‘fate’ of everyone is to get there sooner or late, thus he says stop making it so difficult and let go of the superficial mask (vanities).

Again, perhaps I read too much into a song. I guess it’s all about perspective I ‘spose.

And yes, I love, love, love the song…

@ Everyone: I am so glad you enjoyed it. I had planned to check the post several times today and listen to the song along with you all (or, as we say in Georgia, y’all) but I had not counted on the power going out ALL DAY. Yes, a lovely reminder today that I am in Costa Rica now… the power went out at 7:00 am and JUST now came back (5:45 pm).

No one even calls the power company. We just wait. And if it doesn’t come back at night, we just light candles. And if a million emails need to be answered, they get answered tomorrow… or the next day. Nice little lesson in letting things go.

@ Craig: You pretty much read my mind with your intepretation of the song. I guess I am like you; I can’t just see it as a simple love song. The lyrics are so powerful in a bigger sense… it is a LOVE song.

Thanks, to everyone. If we have power, I’ll see you here tomorrow. =-)

    Hi Lisis,

Great idea for a post! Helps that it’s such a fabulous song as well! Thanks for including the words so we could sing along. I love the quote you opened with “Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.” (Berthold Auerbach) Hadn’t heard it before but I love it.

I feel great after reading/listening to this post thanks Lisis! Hope you’re keeping well in CR!
