Thanks, Diggy! I’ve gotta tell you, I’m really looking forward to 2010. There’s something awesome about starting a whole new decade. :)

Thanks for letting me guest post, Lisis! Happy New Year to you and everyone reading!

    • Lisis December 31, 2009 at 9:10 am

Hey, Henri! Happy New Year to you, too!! I hope you are planning to stop by throughout the day and reply to comments. I’m sure there will be plenty of questions for you… like Gordie, here. I’ll let you address him.

      (Hi, Gordie!)

  • Gordie December 31, 2009 at 6:38 am

Interested to learn that you were a professional poker player before, Henri. What do you think is a bigger gamble, poker or getting out of the rat race? :)
.-= Gordie´s last blog ..Look, Mom! My Blog’s Sprouting Pubes! =-.

    • Henri @ Wake Up Cloud December 31, 2009 at 9:18 am

That’s a hard question. I don’t think poker is a gamble if you know what you’re doing and are honest with yourself. I don’t think getting out of the rat race is a gamble when you know what you’re doing and are honest with yourself.

      You know? :D

    Lisis,
Hey, what a great guest you have here today!

    Henri,
Awesome stuff! I’m drawn to what I have found too – this idea of making connections, deep and meaningful connections – from words shared through a computer. When we can really find those things that touch us deeply, our passion shines through. And that’s what really makes the connections so good, being there with others who “get it”. Here’s to a great year ahead!

    • Lisis December 31, 2009 at 9:13 am

Hey, Lance! I had a dream last night about a really big project, where we went out in search of bloggers from every country. We created this giant map, with links to each blogger, so we could always quickly find anyone in any particular country.

This huge network could then work together on all sorts of global projects to improve the world.

Sounds like a plan for 2010, huh? ;)

    • Henri @ Wake Up Cloud December 31, 2009 at 9:20 am

Meaningful connections are awesome. Even though it’s words (sometimes video) through a computer it is still something that can change our lives. As long as we are authentic and passionate, the right people and circumstances will show up in our lives. That is what I believe.

Lisis, that sounds like an excellent plan for 2010. Let’s make it happen ;)

Hey Lisis! HAPPY NEW YEAR’S EVE!

Thanks for introducing us to Henri. Happy New Year’s to you too, buddy. Great post about how you’ve drastically changed your life. Not surprisingly, all it took was a little risk and a little action. It takes guts to go after what you want, instead of accepting what so many have before you. But once get the guts needed to break free of what’s holding you back, the sky’s the limit.

As a matter of fact, I’ve already taken action. Hopefully, I’ll be able to share the results of that action with confidence in the year 2010.

Henri and Lisis, take care. See you on the other side – get off the net and spend time with whom you’re closest before the NYE countdown :)

Thanks for reading, John and a Happy New Year’s to you too!

It’s funny how everything seems scarier than it really is. Work through your fear and do it anyway and you’ll see that a lot of things seem to just fall in place, especially when you follow your passion and purpose in life.

  • Brett - DareToExpress.com December 31, 2009 at 10:58 am

Killer post, Henri! (and big thanks to Lisis for letting you post here)

Although, I must say this: we must live for today while also being conscious of the repercussions of our actions in the future. We can’t just live recklessly day-to-day and sabotage ourselves in the process by making rash decisions that are taken in the moment. But at the same time, we can’t constantly live with an eye to the future; a balance must be struck between living in the now and not screwing up our future.

      Hey Brett!

Yup, yup, I hear you. Of course, be responsible and live in the now. That’s common sense for most people, I hope!

Now it’s time to rock 2010!

  • Erin December 31, 2009 at 11:33 am

I enjoyed your thoughts on happiness and purpose. Sometimes we think when we take a job or make a career move we assume it is forever. When in fact we get what we need from it in a season.

Life is change. Each experience can help prepare us for choices that will be available as we progress through life’s journey. We certainly have the power of choice and don’t take advantage of it as we should. Many of us were raised with the idea of getting a good job and do everything you can to keep it. Or, choose a career and stick with it. It is scary to change jobs and careers as those are big things. They are the important ones and what we do for a living takes up a great deal of our time. You are correct, we should find joy there.

Take a risk and have an extraordinary 2010.

Thanks for reading and I’m glad my writing could help just a little bit, Erin!

Life is fluid, constantly changing and when you realize that then you can let life guide you where you should be. I have no clue where I’ll be in one year, it’s going to be a fun journey ;)

    Hi Lisis and Henri,

I totally agree with all that you wrote, Henri. We are responsible for our circumstances and life can change in an instant. We are the creators of our reality and life is so much more amazing than people realize. Nothing is impossible. You just have to follow your inner voice, do what is required and everything always does fall into place!

Happy New Year to both of you! 2010 will be even more awesome!

Indeedio. It doesn’t have to be that scary either. You don’t have to quit your job, jump into a pool of darkness or any of that. Small steps work too.

Happy new year to you as well :)

I love what you’ve said about us all having a purpose and having something to share.

    Happy New Year’s!!!!

  • Hulbert December 31, 2009 at 9:33 pm

Hi Henri. I always love reading posts like this, especially when it comes to where a person came from and how they came to be who they are right now. It’s crazy how you started out washing boxes, playing poker, then going into the blogging field.

Ultimately, I think you’re right though. If we make life more complicated than it is, than we will always be lost in a search for happiness. Living life for today, for each day, and taking it step by step will make it easier and happier for us. Hope 2010 will bring you and Lisis much joy and happiness! :)

Happy New Year Lisis and Henri.

Great post on reflection and fully enjoying our present moments, conversations, bloggings, events, interactions.

      Happy New Year, Vincent!!

      Hey Vincent!

Thanks a lot for the encouraging words! Magical things indeed start to happen when we follow our passion and what feels right. It may be tough to start following your passion, but once you start you realize it’s pretty awesome.

Hi, Patti! Oh, I’m so glad you found me! You’re just in time for a very exciting year. I say that as if I knew what I had planned… I really don’t. But, whatever it is, I’m pouring my heart and soul into it.

      Welcome aboard!!! :)

  • Dawn January 1, 2010 at 10:17 pm

Wow…I am glad I found you. 2009 is about endings as well as beginnings. I find myself ending my 17 year marriage, because I have got to follow my heart. Instead of looking at it as the worst time in my life, I choose to see it as the most empowering! I am afraid, but I am excited…I am sad, but happy to know that I am doing what is right, not just for me, but for my children, and for my husband as well.

I have no resolustion for this year…except that I plan to follow my own intution…let things happen as they are intended…stop fighting my own desires…and keeping my head up! This is the beginning of a new life for me…and I am thrilled to be on this journey.

I am glad you stopped by, Dawn! I cannot say I am going through the same thing as you, but I experience the same duality in emotions. I feel excited, yet I am still afraid. It’s part of being human I guess ;)

    • Lisis January 2, 2010 at 8:38 am

Hi, Dawn! I’m so glad you have found this community as well. These are some MAJOR changes you are going through, and sometimes it helps to have others to share the ups and downs with. I can see where it would be really scary, but also extremely exciting to be looking upon a blank canvas on which you can create any life you want.

Starting now is everything. Make some mistakes. Be just a bit afraid, or very afraid. That’s what ultimately gets you from here to there and what keeps you going.

I am working hard at facing fears and actually trying new things every day of my life and seeing how far I can go just because I can!

When life has other plans you just have to make them part of your plans. Not to be a smartypants but maybe it’s a blessing, you just don’t know yet. Enjoy your rest, you deserve it.
