For the Warrior, Poet, Mystic: On Finding Love

LOVE
as
Outward Kindness
rests
On Strength,
Magical
and
Certain,
Mystical
and
Centered.
from
Peace
Walks Slowly
On Still

Between World
and
Illusion,
at times
Unaware,
Guided By
LOVE.

I often wonder at what point in our lives we become aware of LOVE… and what we make of it then…. and if what we make of it when we first “show up” is any different (and how different it is) from the conclusions we make when we finally “leave”.
.-= Christopher Kabamba´s last blog ..Same Same but Different =-.
Hey, Christopher! I have this theory that we first become aware and capable of LOVE when we realize it isn’t really about getting what we want, or “deserve”, for ourselves. I think Love is about what we do for others… friends, family, strangers, future generations, animals, plants, whatever. When we know that, we are very grounded and centered and strong… ready to fully share that with another.
When we finally “leave”, my guess is, we’ll be certain we over-complicated everything.
Thanks for being here. You always brighten my day.
Lisis,
That is a SOLID definition… an idea for which we must (for lack of a better term) “strive” towards. I tend to believe that as well.
Talking about “leaving”, I share the same thoughts. I think it is at that point that people become “more awake”.
Finally, It downs on them that they have complicated just about everything! LOVE, LIFE, MONEY…. EVERYTHING. They realize that they always had ENOUGH; that they were Loved and were capable of Loving; and that Life is simple… not necessarily easy, but simple.
But you see, at this time it’s *too late* for THIS train… Its time to get on the next one … for the next trip.
Eventually, we all arrive; we all grow… one way or the other. That is what makes Life a beautiful thing.
And hey…I will MAKE it a point to look for you on the next trip…when THIS is over. I am serious.

You got yourself a date! I’ll be looking for you the next time around.
Beautiful! Simply Beautiful!

Thank you, Julie! What could be more inspiring than seeing someone we know, and love, fall in love? I am renewed.
Nice poem. Calm and beautiful.

Thanks, Lena… I’m glad you enjoyed it.
This is really beautiful. Thank you for being so wonderful; thank you for being *you*
.-= Jay Schryer´s last blog ..The Perfect Time =-.
Jay, I cannot tell you how strange it is to be awakened at 4am with an entire message intended for YOU. I thought about going back to sleep, but I knew I would forget it. So I got up and wrote it down, in the dark.
I figure your Divine Goddess was trying to get in touch with you, but you are probably too busy packing for, or dreaming about, your new life, so she left a message with your secretary (me!).
You’re welcome. I really wish you and Joy the very best!!!
Lisis and Jay,
The BEST thoughts are the those that wake us a 4 AM begging to be told.
You needed to grab the thought by the tail, reign her back in, and dictate it just for that moment. I find that those kind of thoughts that are the once we must protect and to ensure others have the opportunity to read them.
This is beautiful, thank for capturing the essence of this swan.

You know, Lori… now that you mention it, there’s a good chance my cat is my Muse, ’cause she’s been trying to get me to wake up at 4 AM for two years now! Most of the time I throw her out of the room and go back to bed. Perhaps I’ll start getting up and hanging out with her, instead.
Lisis, I saw this in FB, and your comment that it came to you all in one piece at 4am. Awesome! Some of my best thoughts (they’ll be going into my book) come between 2-4am. I swear it’s Divine communication we’re hearing! This is far more than a beautiful poem. It’s wisdom of the ages distilled into a few profound words. If one reads each phrase slowly and intentfully, with an open heart, worlds of meaning will open up like a series of rainbows in the mind. After I read it, my clairaudience perked up, again, and I heard, clear as a bell, “Absolutely.” I hope you plan on printing this in beautiful script and framing it. It’d be a wonderful family keepsake to be treasured and passed down. …including how the story how it came to you and you captured it, perhaps in a pretty notecard taped to the back of the frame. Thank you so much for sharing this!
.-= Julie´s last blog ..Life Changes =-.
Thanks, Julie! I really appreciate you sharing your observations and enthusiasm with me. I think I will print and frame it, because it’ll always remind me of this magical time.
When I met Jay he was in such a dark, broken place. And then, to watch him heal and grow over the course of a year, and get to this point… a new beginning… well, it’s what life is all about, isn’t it? I am just reveling in his good fortune and happiness. I’m giddy with it.
I can’t really explain the feeling, when in the midst of reading through the dozens of new (and sometimes painfully long) posts on my Reader, I suddenly arrive here and find only 30 or so words in the form of such a beautiful poem. Thank you!
.-= Earl´s last blog ..The Joy of Booking a Flight =-.
Well, Earl… it’s probably a bit like that feeling you get when you first book a flight, and get that magical confirmation number. Like everything just got a little bit lighter, and the future feels a good deal brighter.
Thanks for being here to share this magical moment with me.
Lisis:
I wasn’t even aware you wrote poetry.
Well, it seems like you are an artist, after all.
Thanks for sharing your poem. I enjoyed reading it. I really did.
Can I make a suggestion?
Whenever inspiration strikes, jot it down immediately. Else, you risk losing it. Maybe keep a pen and note-pad with you at all times?
At least this is what has worked for me, over the years.
I wonder: have you tried meditation to find your being?
As a child, I never meditated at all and it had negative consequences for me. My health really deteriorated, to be sure.
But ever since I started to meditate, life is much better. My health has improved. I feel lighter and healthier. And “the peace that passeth understanding” is there now.
All your life you search everywhere to find something you are looking for, but don’t even know what it is. And finally, you find it. In my case, it was meditation. Hope this idea helps you to heal.
Hey, Archan! As a matter of fact, I didn’t know I wrote poetry either! I didn’t even know if this qualified as poetry, but I figured it wasn’t prose… so there you have it. Perhaps there is an artist lurking somewhere within, and I need to give her a chance to come out.
I will definitely start keeping pen, paper, and flashlight beside my bed, just in case she should decide to strike again. Perhaps I’ll try meditation again, too, and see what that produces. A few years ago I used to do yoga and meditation, but I wasn’t in a creative expression phase of my life… so, though I felt relaxed and at peace, I didn’t create any art at the time.
This seems like the perfect opportunity to start something new. Thanks for being here, and for your very supportive comment.
Hey dear friend
and somewhere trying to be a mystic. I needed to listen to every message in that beautiful poem of yours. Love is to give. It is the strength within. Love is courage to act, and break that invisible wall we have created around us. Love is to find peace in the moment . To surrender, to be. Lovely. Am stuck at all these places right now. I wonder why one oscillates so much..thank you. Hope u r well. (and the diagnosis)
I think this was for all of us. When i say it on your fb status it said ,’me’ to me. I often , especially in the last few months have realized I am a warrior. Poet, we know
Hello, Sweetness! ‘Tis an honor to have a genuine Poet in the house today to witness my humble beginnings.
I do believe this poem, though clearly inspired by Jay and Joy, is really intended for many. The title refers to Jay’s twitter profile, but could apply to any one of us. “Ethereal Joy”, of course is Joy’s site, but something we all would love to experience.
I also noticed that the words ring true whether we are talking about new love, mature love, romantic or any other love. Like you said, it is that Love that is peace in the moment.
Thanks for being here, Uzma… it’s always great to see you!
I don’t know why but that first swan image seems so perfect for this poem. I felt like it was visually carrying the message – reflecting it – as I read. Perfect.
Yours,
Megan
.-= Megan´s last blog ..I Missed a Day! =-.
Hey, Megan! Believe it or not, the image selection took MUCH longer to get right than the poem did. I spent a good long while looking for something that conveyed almost exactly what I was feeling, both for Love and for Peace. I paired up different images and finally settled on this combination for the right ambiance. Thank you for noticing.
Lisis,
How beautiful! Thank you! Truly.
I believe when Goddess reaches for you, stop and listen, revel and let her touch your own Divinity. Perhaps you’re not the secretary on this one, perhaps this message was intended for you. Read your own words lovely soul and apply them to your own life, let them touch your own heart and work their magic for you:) I accept your beautiful words and I also present them back to you.
“Peace walks slowly”…mmm let that peace you project wrap around you, and allow yourself to blossom within it….just as we are. Let our joy contribute to your Light. Together we love you Lisis *grin* and we’ll be sending you some “CA sunshine”….
.-= Joy´s last blog ..My Weekend Away…… =-.
Hey, Joy!! I’m so glad you liked it. I love your comment here because, as the poem was unraveling in my head, I didn’t realize it was inspired by you and Jay until I got to the middle parts, about Ethereal Joy and Taking Chances. The whole of it felt like it was meant for me, maybe for others, as well.
The poem had a lovely symmetry, from love to the links and back to love… which is what I wrote down. But when I went back to bed, two other lines danced in my heart:
The Knowing remind.
The Lost distract.
I took this part to be specifically intended for me. So many people I’ve met through blogging (yourself included) are quite in tune with what really matters, and remind me of it often. The rest… the noise, the pain, the confusion, is merely distraction.
Thanks for being here, Joy.
Beautiful poem, Lisis! The more we cultivate world love, the closer we come to world peace.
.-= Pres´s last blog ..The 3 Globbleristic Spheres of Life =-.
Thanks, Pres! I definitely agree with you. I think Love, at all levels, is the answer we are looking for.
Lisis,
What beautiful writing. Love is a wonderful thing, and when that brings two together, at such a deep and soul-level…that is really something special. And for all of that, I am completely drawn into this idea of peace, today. What a place to be at, this place of peace in our hearts.
So, I read this today, and think very much of these two wonderful and amazing people…Joy and Jay. Seeing this all unfold, their coming together…the love, the peace…is touching.
And in that also, I draw upon love, myself…and this reminds me of why I love, why I am loved, and the beauty of being alive.
Lisis…a wonderful and lovely poem you have shared here.
Peace,
Lance
.-= Lance´s last blog ..Sunday Thought For The Day =-.
Isn’t it wonderful, Lance?! To see people we know as they embark on a new journey of love? I find it completely refreshing, revitalizing and a beautiful reminder of what it felt like when I fell in love… more than a decade ago.
New love is a little different from love that has ripened and matured throughout the years, but they are each beautiful in their own way, and both are worthy of celebration. What an inspiration to those who have forgotten, or never realized, what is possible.
Thanks for being here, Lance!
Dang! You wrote this? I keep looking for the author. Didn’t know you wrote poetry. Beautiful. Warriors, poets and mystics are my favourite people. (And 4am wake ups I can highly recommend.)
Haha! Who knew, right? I keep looking for the author, too! Maybe I was channeling Edna St.Vincent Millay, or something. She was certainly my kind of poetess.
I’m glad you liked it, Rosie!
This is beautiful. Makes me want to open my own super-cautious heart and fall in love. Ahhhhh

Hi, Nea! I definitely… DEFINITELY think you should open your heart and trust that magic (healthy, beautiful love) is possible. Not that you need to be in a relationship to be happy, but you certainly deserve to experience the happiness and peace that love brings.
Thanks for being here!
Lysis,
Thanks for sharing. Love is the answer to any question…
All the best,

all so beautiful Lisis, truly.
beautiful definition of LOVE…i will send this to a friend of mine who is getting married soon, she was looking for a short poem for the wedding. Thanks for sharing
This is such a beautiful rendition of love. I’d like to add another of my favourite:
Love is the flower of life, and blossoms unexpectedly
and without law, and must be plucked where it is found,
and enjoyed for the brief hour of its duration.
- D. H. Lawrence
Just a beautiful poem, Lisis. Sometimes love can start out so simple, and then become so complex, and then sometimes dissolve completely. It makes me sad. But we can find love again, always.
