“Man cannot remake himself without suffering, for he is both the marble and the sculptor.” –Alexis Carrel

This week has been all about relationships for me. My dear friend and blog partner, Alison, came out to visit me for a long weekend. We both got to meet a fellow blogger, Jay from Porsidan, for the first time. I received a touching letter from a reader about the difficulty of ending a long term relationship when you are the first to recognize it is over. I met new people and connected with old friends through Twitter and Facebook. And, I had a heart to heart conversation with my family which made me realize how much they have missed me since I started blogging.

“I am the Lorax. I speak for the trees.” –Dr. Seuss

“But those trees! Those trees! Those Truffula Trees!
All my life I’d been searching for trees such as these.
The touch of their tufts was much softer than silk.
And they had the sweet smell of fresh butterfly milk.”
(Dr. Seuss, in The Lorax)
This is my very own Truffula Tree
Please take a moment to notice the small, greenish-blue bird perched on one of the branches near the middle. He was one of about ten different birds, of various vibrant colors, who visited this tree in a matter of minutes, while I took pictures of it. Aside from the stunning little birds, there were bees in almost every blossom.

Did you know that roasting marshmallows could actually make you live longer? Okay, fine… so you won’t live longer, but it can feel longer.
This past Friday Jeff came home from work, gathered us up, and took us camping at the Chattahoochee River. Now, keep in mind, in nearly ten years of marriage this was only my second time sleeping in a tent; I usually opt for the comfort of my bed, climate control, and indoor plumbing. The first time was in the Smoky Mountains when we were dating, and I was trying to convince him I was “a super cool chick that’s up for anything” so he’d want to marry me.
