Fellowship Fridays: Cultivating Confidence

graduation 490x327 Fellowship Fridays: Cultivating Confidence

I’m usually an extremely confident person, but not when it comes to blogging. I keep hearing a voice in my head that says, “Who are you kidding? You aren’t a writer, a blogger, or a shrink! How are you even remotely qualified to write for a blog that aims to help people?”

The truth is, I’m not.

I don’t really know what I’m doing, or the proper way to do this. I struggle constantly with all the “blogger” stuff, like tech problems, making time to comment on other blogs, writing guest posts for bigger blogs, and networking at all hours. In truth, I’m not so good at spending any length of time online. What I do know how to do is care about others, and write my thoughts and feelings on a variety of subjects. Maybe those two things will be enough?

As many of you are already aware, I am completely in love with Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. You may think this is because I have a sweet tooth, or because I am a shameless glutton. Although there’s some truth to both of these statements, the reason I love Ben & Jerry’s has less to do with my appetite and more to do with my soul.

Ben & Jerry’s is no ordinary ice cream. You may recall from my Feast for the Senses and “Fancy Snack” posts that I firmly believe our intent and energy gets transferred into the food we prepare, and is absorbed by those who consume it. Well, Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield have gone to great lengths to infuse their ice creams with love, compassion, creativity, and social consciousness. I encourage you to read more about the Ben & Jerry’s story.

This is me, on my first day of school in Costa Rica. It was 1980 and I was being driven to school in a 1947 Chevy… because my dad lived on the road less traveled. You may recall from his South American Duck Adventures, he didn’t settle for “the norm”; he was determined to chart his own course. I cannot tell you how much that drove me nuts.
