freedom 490x326 Road to Freedom Update #4: Free At Last!!!

“Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!” –MLK

This is, by necessity, a short update. I just want to let everyone know that we found renters for our house!!! Now, we are free… REALLY free, to move to the next step.

I find this new development miraculous on many levels:

1. We had all but given up on this house, and were prepared to let it go to foreclosure. On Friday morning I woke up so sad about it, and I told Jeff it was such a shame for this lovely, cozy home to be abandoned and go to waste. Someone should benefit from it.

It’s been a couple of weeks since my last Road to Freedom Update, so I figure we’re due for another one. I can’t say that too much has changed as a result of Jeff (my husband) quitting his job (our only income), because we’ve been in vacation mode since the first week of August. Now we’re home, back to real life… sort of.

However, there are three things I would like to mention:

1. Mortgage Status

- We ended up paying for August and September. After my conversation with the bank, I had the distinct impression that I should miss my payment since a) we have no job, and b) the bank can’t help us until we are behind on payments.

Last Wednesday I started this series of Road to Freedom Updates, in order to keep you involved in the more practical side of our big decision to leave the rat race with no Plan B. In case you missed it, you may want to check out RTF Update #1 first.

The biggest news I have for you is that our road trip will officially begin today! Around lunch time we will embark on the first leg of the trip, from Georgia to North Carolina. We had originally planned to leave tomorrow, but the extraordinary kindness of friends allowed us to get a head start and spend an extra day with Nadia in New York City! So…

Start spreading the news: We’re leaving TODAY!!!
